Breed standard

The main characteristic that distinguishes the Pallaresa bovine breed is the white color of their coat.
They are docile and manageable animals (a quality much sought after by farmers in the area in all breeds), rustic and similar to the Bruna dels Pirineus, both morphologically and productively. They are perfectly adapted to the mountain environment in which they live and are currently dedicated to the production of organic meat. It does not present calving problems.

The breed prototype, as it shown in the Stud Book, is as follows:

  • General aspect: the individuals of this breed are of harmonic and eumetric proportions with a elongated tendency. It is a rustic, good grazer and medium earliness breed. The uniformly white color of its coat is defining. They are well adapted to the mountain environment where they live, being this breed exploited extensively for meat production.
The average height at the withers is about 132 cm in females; oscillating between 450 to 625 kg of weight for living females (550 kg on average) and 625 to 800 kg for bulls.

The forehead is broad and flat, with a straight or slightly subconvex profile.
